The Chai Box Cafe

Real Indian-style chai where Buckhead meets West Midtown
Skip the flat-white line next door. This counter near Howell Mill and Collier does Indian-style chai and chai-based drinks alongside pastries, a rare tea-first stop on a strip full of coffee shops.
It landed in the neighborhood in June 2026, right as Atlanta's food scene was packed with openings ahead of World Cup crowds. Grab a chai and a pastry and see what the fuss is about.

Cute little place serving great chai. Does get busy on the weekends but the staff is very attentive. Overall a superb experience

Things you should know: I. PARKING There's a parking lot to the left and in front of the building. Easy. II. SERVICE & QUALITY They sell chai tea bags, chai tea concentrate, candles and other merch. The pastries are phenomenal and pair well and their drinks, which also taste great! I recommend everything. I've seen the owner offer tea samples to customers if you're iffy with what to choose. III. CAPACITY Seating indoors and outdoors is very slim.

Wow the chai box is so good. We’ve gone 3 weeks in a row, it’s our favorite part of the week! Everything is delish, vegetarian and fresh. Highly highly recommend.

The chai is great. The employees are very friendly and even though it’s busy with the soft opening they are quick with your orders. The food options are a unique blend and worth considering as well.

The place was packed on Sunday, but the line moved pretty quickly and we only waited around 15 minutes. It definitely feels a little cramped inside, but their service is quick and efficient. We tried the summer special Hill Station Cloud and absolutely loved the cardamom malai on top. I personally prefer my chai a little thicker, but the flavours were really good. We also tried the samosa croissant, which was flaky and delicious. The best part was that they warm it in the oven to maintain the crunch. Big thumbs up for that instead of using a microwave and making it soft or just serving it as is. As soon as you enter, the place smells amazing. You can really see the effort and thought that has gone into creating the space. Definitely worth a visit! I hope I get a chance next time to sit down there, and enjoy my chai. One thing to keep in mind is that parking can be a little difficult to find.
