Ghee Indian Kitchen

Miami's Bib Gourmand Indian kitchen lands in West Midtown
Chef Niven Patel's Miami restaurant, four-time Bib Gourmand winner and Michelin-recommended, has taken over the old Wagamama space at Star Metals. It's Ghee's first Atlanta location, and it brings the same seasonal, farm-to-table approach to Indian cooking north.
The room glows in warm yellow light, a fitting backdrop for a menu that leans on what's in season. It joins a run of chef-driven spots that have turned Howell Mill Road into one of the city's most competitive strips to eat on.

We were visiting Atlanta from Canada on a family vacation and chose Ghee for dinner after reading the reviews. It ended up being one of our favorite meals of the trip. The restaurant is beautiful without feeling overly formal. The warm decor and relaxed atmosphere make it a great place for a family dinner or a special night out. We started with the mushroom momos, tandoori broccoli, papaya salad and the chutney platter. The mushroom momos were the standout for me. Full of flavor and something I’d order again without thinking twice. The tandoori broccoli absolutely deserves the praise it gets. It was smoky, nicely charred and surprisingly satisfying. The papaya salad added a fresh, bright contrast to the richer dishes, and the chutney platter was a fun way to experience a variety of flavors. The green chutney was my favorite because it reminded me of the one my mom makes at home. For our mains, we shared the vegetable kofta and chicken curry with garlic naan. The garlic naan came out hot, soft and perfectly crisp around the edges. The kofta was rich and comforting, while the chicken curry had layers of flavor without being overly spicy. Everything felt freshly prepared and meant to be shared. If it’s your first visit, I’d recommend ordering a few small plates along with a couple of curries instead of sticking to just one dish. The variety is part of what makes the experience enjoyable. The service was friendly, the food arrived at a good pace, and we never felt rushed. Ghee offers a modern setting, but the flavors still feel rooted in Indian cooking. We’d happily come back the next time we’re in Atlanta.

We had a wonderful dining experience. The food was absolutely delicious and very filling. We opted for the tasting menu, and it was definitely worth it. The ambience was good. The service was exceptional, especially from Brett, who took great care of us throughout the evening. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable meal.

Service by Brett was great and very accomodating to food allergies, the food was better than I expected, but I went in with great skepticism after reading the menu online. It took a long time for the appetizers to come out, even though we were the first customers for the day. Others who arrived later were getting their food before us. That said, if you are an Indian, this place really isn't for you, especially if you are a vegetarian and you know what the dishes should taste like. There are a handful of vegetarian dishes. Food quality is there, but the dishes don't taste exactly right, the naans are not good, the pani puris don't taste right, some of the curries were okay to good. This place is overpriced. The actual in restaurant prices for several items are lower than the prices posted online. Make reservations, they open at 5pm and are open for 5-6 hrs. They have a small happy hour menu from 5-7pm with full size portions for discounted prices. Again, the menu is for designed for non-Indians. Even my non-Indian friends who have been were confused by the rational of many of the menu selections. I understand that they are trying to be innovative, but most Indian customers will be once and done.

We visited Ghee Indian Kitchen for the Monday tasting menu, and it was an outstanding experience! Every course was thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and full of incredible flavors. The tasting menu is a fantastic way to experience a wide variety of dishes and explore different regional Indian flavors that you might not otherwise order. Come hungry—the portions add up, and you’ll leave completely satisfied. The service was attentive, the atmosphere was inviting, and the entire evening felt like a special culinary experience. We look forward to coming back and trying more of the menu. Highly recommended!

What an amazing experience! We had such a great meal here, and every dish we ordered was packed with flavor. If you’re coming here for the first time, do yourself a favor and order the mushroom momos and beef korma—those were easily our favorite dishes of the night and are an absolute must. The crispy broccoli was surprisingly delicious, and the lamb neck was incredible. We actually got lucky and snagged the last lamb neck they had for the evening, and it did not disappoint. It was so tender, flavorful, and definitely one of the highlights of the meal. Make sure you save room for dessert! Everything was great, but the sticky date cake was the standout and the perfect way to end the meal. Overall, the food, flavors, and experience were all outstanding. We’ll definitely be back to try more of the menu. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for amazing Indian food!
