Thai comfort food anchoring South Downtown's revival

Tyde Tate Kitchen serves Thai comfort dishes out of a Mitchell Street storefront that sat empty for years before anyone thought to renovate it. That's the draw now: good, unfussy Thai food in a stretch of Atlanta that's finally waking up.

The building is part of the century-old commercial block that Atlanta Tech Village founders Jon Birdsong and David Cummings started restoring after buying the district in 2023. Worth a stop while you explore the block.

At pretty much every Thai restaurant I get their Pad Thai. Tyde tate definitely has some of the best pad thai in the ATL, as you can see in my photo I ate half the food before I remembered to take a picture.

Visiting Atlanta for the first time for the World Cup, and we came across this restaurant. The service was amazing, and so was the food and drinks. 100% would be back if we come back to atlanta!

Best Thai food downtown. This place is amazing. Casual Thai café with amazing cocktails and fast service. The papaya salad was so great and properly spicy. We also had the red curry beef and it was amazing. Indoor, outdoor and bar seating. Such a gem and an asset to South Downtown. Also, you can walk around outside with your drinks in this area. So cool.

One of the best in the area!!!!! Smiling faces, hot, flavorful, authentic food, spacious environment. Bring the kids when you stop by! Get the hot tea to go. You'll love it. Full bar with strong drinks.
