byChae took a small unit at 222 Newbury in July 2026, on a stretch of the street that has quietly turned into Boston's matcha row. The menu is short and the ceremonial-grade drinks are priced accordingly.

They lean into the flavoured lattes more than a Kyoto purist would like. If that is not your thing, the plain usucha is on the board and costs less.

Omg, such a good matcha place! I got the mango and my husband got the strawberry (which was ah-mazing). It's earthy, creamy, fresh, and sweet without being overly sweet or grassy. SO good. I'm not normally a big matcha person, but this changed my mind.
