The Zebra Room

Steakhouse on the Winter Place alley, open since May 2026.
Winter Place is a short alley off Winter Street that most people walk past without noticing. The Zebra Room opened there in May 2026 as a steakhouse, in a building with a long restaurant history.
The bar takes walk-ins. The dining room reliably does not. If you want to see the room without committing to a full steak dinner, that's the way in.

Great food and ambiance. Started with popovers, Caesar salad and tuna tartare, followed by wagyu and flat iron steaks - all phenomenal. Ambiance is elegant and plush. Above all is the service. Frank took care of us, guiding us through all food items, questions and recommendations in great detail. Clearly an expert in this field. Along with this, we were checked up on a few times by Patrick, the manager, throughout our evening to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. Patrick also graciously helped us with a booking hiccup we had and cleared it up within a few minutes. This was an extremely classy move and will be at the forefront of our minds next time we’re deciding where to go for dinner downtown. Highly recommend for the food, ambiance and service 10/10. Well worth it

We had the most incredible birthday celebration here! We were thrilled to snag a dinner reservation at the bar, and Frankie completely stole the show with her hospitality. She made us feel like we were at the coolest dinner party and somehow made every choice feel like the perfect one. Patrick and Bruno also made sure to welcome us and created such a special, VIP experience. The cocktails and food were both 10/10, but it’s truly the people who will bring us back. And the decor? I am obsessed. Bury me in that bathroom. The tile is epic, the deep red millwork is chef’s kiss, and every detail was so well done. Thank you for an amazing night out!

First off our server, Luis G. was phenomenal! The drinks were great, the food was delicious, the decor and attention to detail was great also. I’m not sure if there was a problem with the A/C, but my only complaint was that the room was very warm.

New steakhouse in the hidden basement room in Yvonne’s. Great atmosphere - including of course a zebra head mounted on the wall (not a real head of course!) - exactly what you’d expect from a COJE restaurant. Menu is classic steakhouse , but executed very well and includes a bunch of unique steaks - including a Prime Rib that was the standout. The tuna tartare was beautifully presented , and had a mix of flavors that gave it a great kick. We shared the massive chocolate cake for dessert - and it was really good. Definitely way above average for this classic steakhouse finisher. The wine list is strong also, leaning towards quality wines in the $200 - $700 range. They even had a “Judgement of Paris” section which includes wines from the history making 1976 tasting event that launched California wines. While I’d put it behind both Grill 23 and Mooo in terms of great Boston steakhouses, I think it’s just after those and certainly wins if you add in the vibe and atmosphere.

Located in the basement of Yvonne’s. Similar vibe too. Very photogenic. Great for anniversary or birthday dinner celebration. Typical steakhouse food. Quite pricey but good service
