Annie Mae's Bakeshop

The neighborhood bakery Cannonborough needed
Skip the tourist bakeries downtown. This one sits in the residential blocks between the College of Charleston campus and Cannonborough's restaurant row, closer to dorms and porches than souvenir shops.
It's not trying to be a destination. It's just a solid morning stop for a stretch of the peninsula with more houses than restaurants, the kind of place you walk to before class instead of driving across town for.

This place is so adorable!! All of the employees were so smiley and welcoming. This was the best latte I’ve had in so long!! Truly felt like a coffee shop out of a movie, the cutest little shop. You should DEFINITELY go here

Can not recommend enough. Reached out to several other bakeries and (still) have not heard back. Meanwhile Annie Mae’s Bakeshop had quick responses and absolutely pulled through with the most beautiful cake. They provided several options on how the cake should be done and included recommendations on flavors and designs. 10/10 service with a 11/10 cake. While I picked up the cake every employee had a smile on their face and just from start to finish a great amazing easy place!!

This shop doesn’t need my review but I LOVED 🥰 it! I wish I had more days to enjoy this sweet little spot. Because it was closed 2 days I was in town I made sure to visit my last day. The shop seems like something out of a little hallmark movie, from the tiled entry way outside to the cute mirrored handwritten coffee offerings. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a tray of freshly glazed blueberry cinnamon rolls and I was sold! I ordered the Banana Pudding Cinnamon, Blueberry Cream Cinnamon Roll, the Iced Lavender Oak milk Latte, and a Quad Espresso Tonic to go. Everything was delicious 🤤! The staff was super sweet and helpful because they had to remake my tonic I’m allergic to oranges and they did it no issue. My hubby and I enjoyed a cute morning of coffee, people watching and sweets. This will forever be on my visit list when I’m in town.

I've been four or five times since they opened, and I keep coming back! I love their specialty lattes, and the atmosphere is so femme and cute. The iced chai with their chai cold foam is also great. 10/10!

If you’re visiting Charleston or live here locally, do yourself a favor and stop by! The Coconut Cream Espresso, Strawberry Cream Matcha, and Coffee Cake are all amazing. Everything is made in-house, and the sweetness is perfectly balanced — not too much, just right. The quality of the ingredients and craftsmanship really stand out. I also recently tried the Egg Salad Sandwich, and it was absolutely delicious. Every item I’ve had here has been fantastic.
