Small grocer and cafe filling a Germantown gap
Germantown has restaurants and almost nowhere to buy an onion, which is the gap Basket Case opened into in April 2026. Produce and sundries at the front, a small cafe at the back doing a breakfast croissant from Sift and a french dip at lunch.
The cherry blossom matcha is the drink people come back for. Dogs are allowed, as they are almost everywhere in this neighborhood.

Everything I had was delicious! Best avocado toast I’ve ever had with the candied jalapeños! Plus the place is adorable! Would recommend checking it out!

Really neighborhood feel to this place. Nestled amidst homes and tiny streets, this shop has some excellent coffee. Pastries are definitely great if you get them fresh. Highly recommend a trip if you’re in the area!

I'm so grateful Basket Case exists in the neighborhood! They saw so many things we needed: a good lunch location, walkable fresh produce, and all the dog treats. The space is beautiful and relaxing and a wonderful place for neighbors to hang at! Literally couldn't ask for more and so glad they're here!

What a spot! I was so incredibly impressed by the high quality and flavor of the food here. Great vibes, employees are so nice, awesome selection of groceries too. Can’t wait to come back and try something new! We ordered the burrito and toffee chocolate cookie. 10/10
