Rotisserie counters in Paris, London and Montreal, on Hudson Street
The whole bird off the spit is the point here, and the team behind Margot and Montague Diner knows how to do this well. Fries, salads, cocktails and a natural wine list circle around it, but nobody's pretending the rotisserie isn't the main event.
It borrows its playbook openly from rotisserie counters in Paris, London and Montreal. No twist, no reinvention, just a straightforward proposition run by people with a track record.

Very affordable simple comfort food menu in west village. Get the cleo salad, cornbread, corn ribs for sure. Half chicken is more than enough for 2 to share too. People were even eating in the rain outside!

Cleo being very hyped for the rotisserie chicken. It was good but maybe expectations are very high. The restaurant itself is very nice but could use some music or art on the walks. Very tight seating but comfortable. Overall good but rotisserie chicken is really thing on the menu.

I wasn't very impressed by Cleo unfortunately, more of a scene than a place for good food. The salad and corn ribs were good but the mac and cheese was bland and the potato salad was mushy, the potatoes were very overcooked. The chicken was good but nothing particularly memorable. Overall flavors lacked finesse and depth. It didn't help that we were seated in a very uncomfortable corner banquette

Add another great little restaurant to the West Village dining scene. Very innovative interpretation of classic American cuisine. The centerpiece here is the chicken…and it’s excellent. The dishes we had all had an interesting kick/twist to them…not overpowering, but a nice surprise. Even the bread (which is a must) with the butter, honey and harissa made a statement. As did the corn ribs z’atar. As did the gem salad! Other diners around us had the risotto and the branzino (the only other mains on the menu) and they told us the dishes were great. Friendly, attentive knowledgeable staff.

I urgently advise anyone and everyone reading this to get to Cleo IMMEDIATELY. There is nothing tastier and more indulgent than tucking in to a perfect rotisserie chicken while people watching in the West Village. Get the cornbread and the beans. Also get the fries and the broccolini. Obviously get dessert. Roll me home. Update: leftovers too good to waste. If you saw me eating rotisserie by gate 46 in LGA, no you didn’t.
