A historic naval station becomes the Navy Yard's second hotel

About 18,000 square feet of meeting space, a ballroom and an outdoor courtyard are planned inside, aimed at the Navy Yard's growing office and lab population and Philadelphia's 2026 event surge.

The Waylen converts the campus's historic naval receiving station into a 223-room, full-service hotel under Hyatt's Unbound Collection. Developers Ensemble and Mosaic announced it in January 2024 and broke ground later that year, with Gensler as architect. It's only the second hotel on the 1,200-acre former shipyard, and the more ambitious one.
