The Bellevue Hotel

★ 4.3 · 2,513 reviews Philadelphia Opened 11 February 2025

A 1904 Grande Dame reborn after a $100 million restoration

The building itself is a small city: shops, offices, residences and the Sporting Club share the address, giving the hotel energy most restorations never manage. The redo brought 184 rooms including 39 suites.

The Bellevue has anchored Broad and Walnut since 1904, a French Renaissance pile that hosted presidents and debutante balls before decades of mixed fortunes. Developer Lubert-Adler put roughly $100 million into restoring it. The hotel reopened in February 2025 under Hyatt's Unbound Collection.

Good to know

  • Guests get privileges at the Sporting Club, the huge athletic club inside the same building.
  • Ask for a suite, 39 of the 184 rooms are suites and the renovation treated them best.

Exceptional hotel with an amazing team! The staff were incredibly welcoming and made the entire stay feel special. We were fortunate enough to receive an upgrade to one of the top-tier accommodations, which made the experience even better. The hotel has beautiful amenities and is perfect for a relaxing staycation. Definitely worth the stay, and I would absolutely come back again!

The Bellevue Hotel is a beautiful historic property with an excellent location. The staff was friendly, the hotel was clean, and it was easy to walk to many of Philadelphia’s attractions. We also loved the architecture and charm of the building. The only downside is that I wouldn’t consider it a family-friendly hotel. We specifically chose it because it advertised an indoor pool, but we didn’t realize the sports club and pool are located in a separate building. More importantly, children are not allowed to use the pool during certain days and hours, which was very disappointing for our kids. Since many of the facilities have age restrictions, we weren’t able to enjoy the amenities we had planned on, and there really wasn’t a backup option for our family. (Totally my fault though) I would absolutely stay here again for an adults-only trip because the hotel itself is wonderful. However, I wouldn’t recommend it to families with young children unless you’re aware of the restrictions before booking.

Beautiful hotel! I absolutely love how much character, history and architecture. We stayed for 6 nights. Unfortunately we had a significant delay in our ETA, 3:00am. I called hours in advance to notify hotel but ended up in on the 800 number for a note in our reservation, which did nothing to hold our expected room. We were put in the wrong room and not what we reserved and prepaid. The hotel manager was available immediately the next morning already prepared to move us to our reserved room. Staff was very friendly. I gave service 4 stars as they were reluctant to replenish our coffee pods and water after the first day, even after numerous requests on day 3 and then gave us decaf., Hotel provides water in the fridge but one bottle for 6 days? There is a water bottle refill station in a closet down the hall, which is nice if you don’t want to pay for water. The food in the Pergola, was pretty good as room service. I tried to go to the restaurant 3 times and the host always seemed confused about sitting us or wasn’t there. I mention this as there is something lacking here that is impacting the reputation of the restaurant and seemingly good food that could potentially encourage more of a quiet evening vibe to get a drink. My husband and I went up for a drink and no one was around so we left. The sport center is amazing! We will be back, just hoping more from the restaurant flow.

We spent a night at The Bellevue. The location is right in Center City and you can see City Hall. This makes walking around very easy and it is close to some great restaurants. The hotel itself is beautiful. The gym is impressive but difficult to get there. We had complimentary drinks which was delicious. We had breakfast at the hotel restaurant. The main room of the Pergola restaurant is beautiful. BUT the overflow room is not nice and does not match the main room. The chairs were worn out, the ceiling looked like it was wilting. It was a bummer and hopefully the hotel well clean it up to match the other parts of the hotel.

I love this place, there’s only one thing I did not like, the bellman and concierge guy. Amir was great and so as David, the other who said he was the manager Bald British accent was condescending. Maybe because I was black wearing a regular clothes. Not knowing I am a CFO of a Equity Firm. I felt awkward. The hospitality of the Guy is extremely un acceptable. I recommend the Ritz or Four-seasons instead. David and Amir was great! And rooms was nice..
