Royal Sushi's eighties-themed sibling on Sansom Street.
Dancerobot opened on Sansom Street in September 2025 from the Royal Sushi and Izakaya team, which is why the reservations went quickly. The room leans hard on the eighties.
Pan-fried shrimp gyoza, a Jidori omelette, katsu curry, pasta in creamy dashi. The cocktail list runs to black sesame espresso martinis and melon yuzu drops. Set a reminder for when the book opens. The Infatuation added it to the Hit List.

The food was interesting but probably not worth the price. $155 for 4 ppl. Avocado toast was not great, roe was very salty and did not mesh well with the dish Deep fried onigiri was good but was really heavy and cheese wasn’t a great match with the rest of the food Kare pan was executed well. Caesar salad inari was terrible. Sourdough pancake was pretty nice. This came in a huge portion Anko pan was good. My friends at a different table had their food come out at a very uncomfortable cadence - two of them had their food come out at the very end after waiting like an hour. I tried the yuzu espresso drink and it was a bad choice. Overall I think the food was technically executed with skill but the flavors were very clashing and confused. This is Japanese American fusion but there’s no harmony at all.

Perfect choice for my first arrival to Philly. I love the vibe of the restaurant and the fusion dishes. Easy to reserve and late open helped come eith easier parking on the middle of the downtown. The restaurant located on the perfect streets with all the shopping. Great place to hang out. Highly recommended

This is probably the best meal I've had in Philadelphia. The service was attentive and generous, our waiter didn't miss a single detail. The food was incredible. My favorites were the black sesame brownie and the stuffed bell pepper. I will definitely be coming back, hungry for more!

Very interesting place and great experience. Food was good, but didnt quite make it to 5 stars. Had a 6 person dinner so got to try a lot of things. My favorites were the Pork Secreto, Steak, the egg was phenominal and I dont usually like scrambled eggs, and both cooked and raw salmon. The drinks we had werent great and the black sesame dessert needed more black sesame. Overall good time and decent price for the creativity.

Alright y’all, this is your sign to support other Japanese restaurants in Philly, besides this one. Lovely service, great atmosphere, but overpriced food. I realize this is a very high rent area, but some of these items were ridiculous. The cucumber and watermelon salad was probably the standout. Fresh and delicious. The mentaiko omelette was also quite tasty. The “Caesar salad” in the tofu skins was $16 and not worth it. The Kare Pan was pretty much a single bun for $15. But, what brings me here today is the “Katsu Curry”. “Katsu” is the shortened Japanese adaptation of the English word “cutlet”. Here’s the thing though: IT DOESN’T COME WITH MEAT. $26 for rice, a little bit of veg, and Curry! It’s a $10 extra add on for the meat! So, $36 for something you could get for half the price at fantastic Japanese restaurants in Philly. Not worth the hype. Loved our server, I will think of her often. But never again.
