Trattoria Da Sofia

★ 4.6 · 285 reviews San Diego Opened April 2024

Andrea Carbonaro's Kensington trattoria

Family runs through the whole operation. Another cousin cooks at sister restaurant Aromi, and his brother Dario is in on Sobremesa in San Carlos. Pasta beats pizza at this one.

Trattoria da Sofia opened on Adams Avenue in Kensington in 2024, the third of Andrea Carbonaro's Italian rooms after Aromi and Pizza by Aromi in La Mesa. His cousin Mariano Liga is a partner here.

Food is great. The Ravioli Di Carne is amazing. Sometimes I just do a pick up order for it and it’s still delicious as take out. They can also make it gluten free upon request and that tastes good too

My partner & I’s experience at Trattoria Da Sofia is an experience we will never forget. We were so excited to go to this restaurant, and the moment we stepped in we were greeted with so much kindness and love! The service was outstanding, with every employee being so kind, hilarious, and incredible. Our food was outstanding, we did not want to leave any food left over on the plates. We loved the Caesar salad, Ravioli di Carne pasta, Spicy Rigatoni Vodka pasta, the table-side pistachio tiramisu, and their Limoncello cake. Everything that they make is made with so much love and passion, we could tell. Our Anniversary dinner here was a dream, and we felt even emotional with joy after the dinner. Highly recommend you go to this restaurant, it feels like a loving home-cooked meal. Best experience ever!

Amazing cozy spot for HH and dinner! Great specials on their happy hour. We sat on the patio and enjoyed delicious drinks. Attentive service by Ercole checking on us and making sure everything was going well. Very accommodating for our 8 month old as well! Thank you

I had such a lovely dinner at Trattoria da Sofia with my girlfriends before a concert at SDSU, and it was truly perfect from start to finish. The restaurant itself is adorable — cozy, stylish, and with a really welcoming vibe that set the tone for the night. We ordered a mix of appetizers, and they were so good that we ended up getting full before we even made it to the entrées. We still shared a pasta dish (because how could we not?), and it was absolutely delicious. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The service was just as impressive — warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly. You can tell the staff takes pride in making sure guests have a great experience. Overall, it was the perfect spot for a girls’ night out - but also family friendly. Amazing food, great service, and such a cute atmosphere. Highly recommend!

First of all, our server Yuri was the best! The hospitality was 10/10, he was so attentive, kind, and his food recommendations were so good! The food was so good, probably one of the best spots for pasta in San Diego! Thank you Yuri for a great experience!
