Ca Phe Mai

Vietnamese coffee by day, wine by night, off a Double Bay lane
The ca phe sua da here comes properly made with a phin filter, so budget the five minutes it takes to drip. Worth the wait: it's the best reason to duck down this Double Bay laneway before the switch to wine after dark.
Finding the door is half the fun. Enter from Manning Road, behind the Forum building, not off Kiaora Lane itself.

Modern interpretation of traditional Vietnamese food and drinks in a lovely venue. Suits the Double Bay vibes.

Truly excited that we finally have a Vietnamese in Double Bay with so much soul and authenticity to Vietnamese cuisine. I loved the variety of the menu as well as the wicked drinks menu. Such a gem and highly recommend it.

Shared a variety of plates with friends for dinner. Was apprehensive about this plan and didn’t think we’d ordered enough, but it turned out to be plenty, delicious in surprising and satisfying ways, and reasonably-priced (minus drinks).

I truly cannot express how great this restaurant is. Their ability to take a space and transform between day and night, and make their cozy lane way so enticing is incredible. When I first went, it was for a friends birthday and I had not yet been, and thought hmmm never been there. I was so shocked by the food and just how delicious it is. My favorite part was how different it is from the same old day in day out dining the eastern suburbs keeps regurgitating (Italian, Japanese and steak restaurants on repeat). Also the staff and owners are so lovely. Cannot recommend enough! (And groovy interiors)
