On our 7th night in Canada, we decided to try Good Folk, and it ended up being one of our favorite dining experiences of the trip! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was incredibly relaxed and inviting, making it the perfect place to unwind after a busy day of exploring. Our waiter was fantastic—attentive, friendly, and made the entire experience even better. We started with the seared scallops and pork belly appetizer. While the flavors were amazing, the portion was much smaller than we expected. Because of that, we also ordered the burrata and hummus, which ended up being absolutely delicious and a much more generous portion. For our entrées, we chose the duck, lobster and scallop risotto, and beef tenderloin—and every single dish exceeded our expectations. Each plate was beautifully prepared, full of flavor, and something we would gladly order again. For dessert, we tried the Banana cake and the Passionfruit Cheesecake. We were not super impressed by them. The banana cake was pretty dry and the cheesecake was very acidic. If you’re visiting the area and looking for a restaurant with great food, excellent service, and a cozy, laid-back atmosphere, Good Folk is definitely worth adding to your list. It was easily one of the standout meals from our Canadian vacation!

What an amazing restaurant. We had dinner at Good Folk after getting engaged earlier that day, and every part of the meal was perfect. Our server was so kind and attentive, even giving us complimentary glasses of champagne to celebrate. The rosemary focaccia was a highlight, and we both thoroughly enjoyed our entrees as well. The final cherry on top was the amazing ice cream trio at the end (don’t miss the dark chocolate)! They even wrote a beautiful “Happy Birthday” note because that was the original purpose of this trip, which I had noted in the reservation!

Great dinner everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. The restaurant was incredibly busy this evening, but you could tell the entire team genuinely cared about making sure we had a great experience. One of our appetizers arrived at the same time as our mains, and they apologized multiple times for the delay. They even offered to treat us to dessert, but we were far too full to accept, the portions were generous and very satisfying. This was honestly one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Banff, especially when it comes to service. At a few other places, we got the impression that, because it’s a small tourist town, some restaurants don’t put as much effort into the customer experience since visitors have limited options. That definitely wasn’t the case here. I would absolutely recommend stopping by and treating yourself to a great steak.

The main dish which is the Alberta Prime bone-in beef ribeye is 3/5. I find it a bit burned and lean. I prefer a more marble cut and not too overwhelming smoky flavour. The highlight of the dinner was the wild mushroom risotto. Highly recommend! The chef here did a really great job with the flavor of the risotto. The boar chop is the best meat dish tonight so we put it at 4/5. Duck breast is okay but the complementary ingredients were so delicious. The green risotto was better than the meat itself. Bison tartare was excellent, very lean, great flavour, different than a regular beef tartare, goes well with the house egg yolk sauce. 5/5 Overall, the servers are very attentive. Great ambiance. We were able to get a table without a reservation but we went at 5PM and we stayed at the Otter hotel.

Had an amazing experience at Good Folk! The food was absolutely delicious, made with fresh ingredients, and every dish was full of flavor. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout our visit. Everything we ordered exceeded our expectations. Definitely one of the best meals we had in Banff. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the area! 😊🏔️🍽️
