Italian cooking and Petřín views on Loretánská, open since December 2024

hOST opened on Loretánská in December 2024, high in Hradčany with a view across to Petřín from the terrace. The cooking is Italian and traditional rather than reinvented: aged meats, pasta made in-house, a wine list weighted towards Piedmont.

The location is a few minutes above the tourist crush at the castle gates, which is enough to change the crowd entirely. Booking a window or terrace table is worth doing well ahead, because there are not many of them.

Good to know

  • Ask for a terrace table when booking; the view is the difference.

Excellent atmosphere with a night time view of the city. Food was excellent and the wine was fantastic. Staff made us feel welcome and was knowledgeable on the food and drink.

After a few disappointing meals in Prague, by chance, my wife and I walked past this place. As we did, a couple of locals suggested we have dinner as it’s “the best Italian in Prague.” After a fantastic meal, I wish I had a way to personally thank these two locals for their recommendation. First, the ambiance is so nice. A small restaurant with a view from every seat. The service was also top notch with every one of our needs taken care of. As far as food and drink, I have one word, “Quality.” We started with a couple of cocktails; I recommend the Bergamot Negroni. For starters, the Buratta Caprese is an absolute MUST and the Fritto Misto is delicious. For mains, the fish of the day, the Sea Bass, was the star of the show. The Cacio e Pepe ravioli was also SO good. The best dessert was the fresh strawberries with mascarpone and meringue. The tiramisu was also very tasty. If you find yourself in Prague looking for a great meal, make sure to visit this place. Dining out can get very expensive these days and with no guarantee of quality. This place delivers on quality that’s worth every penny. I cannot recommend this place more highly.

Such a hidden gem amidst the bustle of the city. Make time to visit this restaurant—you won’t be disappointed. From the serene and soothing atmosphere to the perfectly paced service between courses and the absolutely delicious food, everything was first-class. We started with the Fritto Misto and Burrata (which were so tasty that I forgot to take photos!). I had the sea bass with whipped potatoes and beurre blanc sauce, while my husband ordered the Cacio e Pepe ravioli. His dish was excellent, but my sea bass was possibly the most well-rounded fish dish I’ve eaten in a very long time. We finished with the tiramisu and strawberry desserts, which were the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. Dining out can be expensive these days, but when food is prepared so thoughtfully and clearly made with care, it shows—and it’s worth every penny.

hOST Restaurant is without a doubt one of the most beautiful and romantic restaurants in Prague. The views over the city are simply breathtaking, especially around sunset, creating an atmosphere that is truly unforgettable. Everything about this place is exceptional. The food is beautifully presented, full of flavor, and made with great attention to detail. The wine selection is excellent, the cocktails are expertly crafted, and every drink feels like part of the experience rather than just something to accompany the meal. What makes hOST truly special, however, is the staff. The service is warm, professional, and genuinely authentic. From the moment you arrive, you feel welcomed and taken care of. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion, planning a romantic evening, or simply looking for one of the best dining experiences Prague has to offer, hOST is a place you must visit. I absolutely loved it and can't wait to return.

Very unique venue near the historic part of Prague with a great atmosphere and breathtaking views over the city. The Italian food was excellent, especially compared to the traditional Czech cuisine around this area. It was the perfect light dinner after a hot day, and the prices were very reasonable considering the location and the quality of the ingredients.
