René Redzepi's beer-and-butter cooking, back at Noma's old address
Barr took over Strandgade 93, the harborside townhouse that housed the original Noma until 2016, and built a menu around what René Redzepi calls Nordic Sea region cooking: rye bread, schnitzel, smoked fish, and a beer list that treats Belgian and Danish brewing as seriously as most restaurants treat wine.
The restaurant relaunched at the address on 1 June 2026 with new kitchen leadership, keeping the free-range pork and horseradish cream that made Barr's original run a favorite among people priced out of its more famous sibling two doors down.

Beautiful restaurant; much like being inside a rugged old cottage with beams. I booked for one and was sat on the community table; which turned out to be the nicer bit about the evening, getting to talk to others who were visiting Copenhagen as well. I went with the set menu. The food was good, perhaps new cuisine for me, but nothing mind-blowing or to write home about. At this price point (~€160), I do expect to dream and salivate about my food for a week afterwards.

A beautifully decorated space tucked in by the water. Our server Emily was fabulous and attentive. I enjoyed the schnitzel and the orange wine on the menu. Great oysters and bread as well.

Barr is a good restaurant, but one that left me feeling slightly underwhelmed given the price point. The dishes are beautifully presented and there’s no denying that the food looks impressive when it arrives at the table. Unfortunately, the flavours didn’t always live up to the presentation, and several dishes felt better in appearance than in taste. The pork chop, beef, asparagus and sides were all perfectly enjoyable, but nothing really stood out as exceptional. Service was also perfectly alright—friendly and efficient without being particularly memorable. The dining room has a nice atmosphere and the overall experience is pleasant enough. The biggest drawback is the value. It’s an expensive meal, and at those prices you naturally expect something truly memorable. For me, it didn’t quite reach that level. Would I rush back? Probably not. That said, if you’re already in the area and can walk in for dinner, it’s a perfectly decent option and you’ll likely have an enjoyable evening. I just wouldn’t recommend making a special journey solely to eat here, as it may not live up to the expectations that the price and presentation create. Finding genuinely outstanding restaurants can sometimes be difficult, and while Barr does many things well, it ultimately falls into the category of very good rather than truly exceptional.

The best meal I had during my trip to Copenhagen, and one I’ll be thinking about for a long time. Barr strikes the perfect balance between refined and welcoming. The space is stunning without feeling stuffy, and its location along the waterfront makes it even more special. The flow between the outdoor seating and the dining room gives the whole restaurant an energy that feels lively and communal. It immediately felt like a place where people wanted to linger over a great meal. I started with the bread service and the savory brown butter waffle with roe dip. If you’re on the fence, order the waffle. The combination of the nutty brown butter, crisp waffle, and rich roe dip was one of the standout bites of my entire trip. For my main, I had the schnitzel with the truffle addition, along with the asparagus. The schnitzel was everything you hope for: perfectly crisp, juicy, and elevated by the truffle. The asparagus was a reminder that simple, seasonal ingredients can be just as memorable when they’re treated with care. Dessert was Danish strawberries with strawberry ice cream and a drizzle of strawberry oil. It was vibrant, light, and the ideal ending to the meal. Every component tasted intensely of fresh strawberries without being overly sweet. From the food to the service to the atmosphere, Barr absolutely delivered. Copenhagen has no shortage of incredible restaurants, but this was the meal that stayed with me the most. If I return to the city, Barr will be my first reservation.

What a fantastic meal and my favorite in Copenhagen so far. I got what seems to be popular here and that was the tartar (recommend with the bread), Schnitzel, Lamb Frikadeller, and Rhubarb pudding. I can confidently say that these dishes live up to the hype. The schnitzel basically is a ultra thin and crispy pork katsu and the lamb frikadeller is a soft meatball. Both left me wanting to eat more. And the Rhubarb pudding was a great way to finish the meal. I also recommend the cocktails! The nigroni is made with local Danish ingredients and I loved the smell of it.
