Japanese technique meets Provençal produce, steps from Place Garibaldi

Zenirō opened in January 2026 on boulevard Risso, a few steps from Place Garibaldi. The idea: apply the rigor of Japanese cooking to Provençal ingredients rather than ship in a ready-made Japanese menu. Chef Ricardo Pérez runs the kitchen, having trained at Nobu London Shoreditch and Tapasake at One&Only Portonovi.

The space runs across three levels: a ground-floor bar with open kitchen, an upstairs dining room with a private lounge and wine cellar, and a rooftop that opened a few months later. Doors open evenings only, 6 to 11:30pm, and it's quickly become one of the season's most discussed openings in a city that hadn't had a serious Japanese dining scene before.

haven’t enjoyed much sushi in Nice but this place hit the spot. The rolls were good but the bites and appetizers were amazing

One of the most memorable dining experiences I’ve had in France, and indeed in 2026 overall, was at this exceptional restaurant. The menu was a remarkable fusion of diverse flavors and culinary traditions, showcasing the chef’s creativity and expertise. I chose the omakase option, and each course was a masterpiece, meticulously crafted and bursting with taste. Among the highlights was the melt-in-your-mouth wagyu nigiri, which was perfectly balanced with its accompaniments, and the delightful strawberry dessert, which provided a refreshing and sweet conclusion to the meal. However, what truly set this dining experience apart was the impeccable attention to detail and the warm hospitality of the white-attired service staff. They consistently delivered each dish with genuine smiles and a caring demeanor, enhancing the overall enjoyment of the meal. Their dedication to ensuring a flawless dining experience was evident in every interaction. I am already planning my return to Nice, solely for the opportunity to dine here again. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking an extraordinary culinary adventure.
