Skip the château queue entirely: this counter sits in the Cour d'Honneur, no entry ticket needed. SSP, the group behind France's train station and airport restaurants, teamed up bakery-pâtissier BO&MIE with Versailles caterer Gaulupeau for the job.

One side plates savory dishes and traditional French croissants. The other rotates with the seasons, oysters, caviar and champagne some months, ice cream in others.
