A cardamom bun by day, sourdough pizza after dark
Common shape-shifts on Karl-Marx-Straße: a microbakery and café through the morning, a backyard pizzeria once night falls. The cardamom bun is the one worth building a stop around, good enough to rival Copenhagen's best.
Evening turns to long-fermented sourdough pizza, cooked in the same space the coffee cups sat in hours earlier.

Coffee and a maritozzo? Yes please. ☕ Stopped into Common for a coffee and they did not disappoint. The flat white was lovely, but the star was their current pastry special: a maritozzo. 🤍 For the uninitiated, it’s a traditional Roman sweet bun, split and generously filled with fresh whipped cream (historically given by suitors as a token of love, rooted in marito, meaning husband). Theirs was filled with vanilla cream and was sooo good. 😍 I also picked up half a loaf of their sourdough, and wow. Amazing crackly crust with a beautifully moist inside. Proper bread. Common does coffee and bakery by day and pizza by night, and if the rest is anything like what I had, I’ll happily be back for all of it. 👍🏻 *************** 👋🏻 Hey fellow Google Maps friend, if my review helped you find your next coffee and pastry stop, give it a thumbs up 👍🏆 Thank you 🙏

If you respect masters at craft and take your dough seriously then this place is a must. The pizza at Common was exceptional. Simple menu, top-tier ingredients and pure bliss when it hits your lips. I’ll be back here every time I’m in Berlin. (Pizza No. 5 pictured)

Early Saturday morning. Great coffee, delicious pastries. Hearty sourdough. Stylish interior. Nice staff. A diamond in the rough. Chi SA, sa. Edit: the pizza is insanely good, I'd say a notch above Gazzo. Che non ci sia lo zampino di Christian Puglisi? Mmmm. Begs the question, doesn't it? And the service is... Well, let's just say it's extremely well... Curated. As in OMG please pinch me.
