Cretan cooking meets Spanish bar habits
Turns out Crete and Spain aren't as far apart as they sound. ¡Topa! crosses Cretan cooking with Spanish bar habits: small plates, wine by the glass, coffee if you're here earlier in the day.
It sits on Fokionos Negri, the wide pedestrian avenue that made Kypseli fashionable in the 1960s and has spent the last decade becoming interesting again. This place is one of the reasons people cite for that second wave.

A fusion of cretian and Spanish flavours... The location on the busy boulevard and the seating outside were spot on. We ordered Raki from Crete to drink with our first meze plates. Grilled green Spanish pepper. Can't remember their name 😞.jamon, cretian snales cooked slowly with zucchini..not for everyone.but if you like snails..they were amazing... High lite was the fresh pasta with cheese and lemon. Dessert was also great.but I can't remember because of the Raki... Worth a visit and to enjoy wonderful kipseli

Food was unique and really tasty. Prices expensive for the portions. Would have given 5 starts if the staff was a little more chatty and friendly though... Snail casserole was interesting, cretan sausage very good. Cretan pasta didn't excited me, considering the price.. Would love it more with apaki rather than courgette..

I really liked this relaxed Greek/Basque inspired tapas bar in the Kypseli area of Athens. The menu has quite a number of really tempting choices that can be paired with eclectic wines on the wine menu .... even a pretty decent non- alcoholic white wine! Everything I and my friends ordered and enjoyed was well prepared with authentic flavors that were nicely balanced and showcased the quality of the ingredients used for each dish. The service was very friendly and prompt and the prices competitive. I already look forward to another visit to taste more of the Chef's inspiring tapas dishes. 😍😋

One of my go-to spots in Kypseli. A Spanish tapas restaurant with a Cretan twist that really sets it apart. I’ve been twice now and the food has been consistently great — it has a wide variety of dishes so you can try something different each time. Warm, relaxed atmosphere and always a place I’m excited to come back to.

A really fantastic addition to the food scene in Athens and an amazing addition to the ever growing collection of new, independent business in Kypseli. The restaurant is clean and attractive, the staff were really attentive and very nice and the food was excellent.
