Sake, highballs and vinyl above Izumi

Twenty-eight seats, custom electric blue horn speakers, and a nine bottle sake list split into three flights, from crisp ginjos to umami heavy pours. Music journalist Bhanuj Kappal programs many of the nights, spinning crates sourced largely by partners Neale Murray and Owen Roncon.

The highball menu came out of a collaboration with Koki Ito of Tokyo's five seat bar Raven, and includes a Bombay duck infused tequila version. Food is fourteen small plates sent up from Izumi's kitchen downstairs. Order the highballs.

On the first floor, in the same building as Izumi, their bar Idoru is actually a notch above the parent restaurant in terms of its ambience and service. It has a short food menu, which includes some really amazing Japanese fusion dishes. Dishes that truly made a brilliant impression on us were the Overload Maki, Mini Don, and Chicken Liver Mousse. Each was an absolute delight for the palate. Our server for the evening was Nim, who was attentive and offered good direction on what to order to suit our preferences. From the drinks, try their highballs, which are elevated versions of your standard Japanese highballs. But the single drink that stole the show was the Magroni—an absolute must-try. The ambience is spot on in terms of the music, the decor, the lighting, and everything else. Highly recommend the place for a fun evening of classy drinks and great small plates.

This place is just simple elegance. It sits right above Izumi, and transports you to a quiet, dim-lit haven of sorts. The sound is just right - not too loud, not too quiet. The listening bar sits daintily in a corner instead of being thrown your way like a gimmick. Would've never thought a bombil-infused cocktail would ever be appetising, but I was so glad to be proven wrong. They even let me take a sip of the salty highball just so I could be certain of my choice. Even my friend's drink, the Buzzinga, was delicious. Every flavour, actually, that I tried here, was one I'd not tasted before. Quite an experience. I felt so reluctant to leave - I somehow felt more relaxed in there. It is what I truly imagine what stepping into a Murakami novel would be like.

The vibe, food, and drinks were all great. Namaa gave us excellent recommendations. It’s a charming speakeasyish.

Nuanced food, drinks that require a science degree and music vibes that remind you of the best nights out. Get out to this amazing “izakaya” by the promoters of Izumi.

Fantastic cocktail bar and easily one of Bandra’s hidden gems. The cocktails are top-notch—creative, well-balanced, and expertly mixed. The staff are warm, attentive, and genuinely helpful, which elevates the whole experience. The highlight of the night was DJ Abhi Meer, who absolutely nailed it with a nostalgic set of synth-pop and new wave from the ’80s and ’90s—perfect vibe for the space. What worked: Music, cocktails, ambience, serviceSuggestion: Expanding the beer selection—especially adding draft options—would be a great touch for non-cocktail drinkers. Highly recommended.
