Forêt

A French bistro from the Forest Avenue owners
John and Sandy Wyer opened Forêt on Sussex Terrace, off Upper Leeson Street, in late 2024. They also run Forest Avenue and Una Bakery, so the bread situation was settled before the doors opened.
It is a bistro in the straightforward sense, French dishes cooked properly rather than reinterpreted, in a small room on a quiet corner south of the canal.

Absolutely fabulous representation of modern french cooking with an Irish twist. Particular highlights were the leek vinaigrette and the curried egg with crab, but every dish was at least an 8/10. Go with friend, order everything and share!

Foret delivered one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Dublin in the last three years. Located next door to its Michelin-starred sister restaurant, Foret offers thoughtful, creative cooking with exceptional ingredients and perfect portions for sharing. The in-house bread and butter was absolutely delicious to start. Standout dishes included the white anchovy with smoked cream and green olive (to die for — so fresh and non-fishy), the curried egg mayonnaise with crab and white asparagus (light, refreshing, and perfectly balanced), and the bluefin tuna with marinated tomato and fresh almonds (incredibly fresh and flavorful). The beef fillet tartare with potato rosti was a hit with everyone — a delicious, slightly spicy take. But the absolute highlight was the quail pithivier with carrot and foie gras sauce — presented like a beautiful beef Wellington, incredibly unique and delicious. Even the next day, we couldn’t stop talking about it. You must order this. The pommes frites were very good, and we really enjoyed the white Burgundy (first time we’ve had one with a wax top!). Everything was beautifully executed. Warm, attentive service rounded out a memorable evening. Foret is a must-visit — we’ll definitely be back

Food is absolutely delicious and beautifully presented but you wouldn’t want to be hungry, portions are very small. Service was slow. Overall we enjoyed our evening but I wouldn’t be rushing back.

Food is good but definitively nothing memorable. The atmosphere is to be considered “classic” but the bar area looks very simple “pub style” with a LCD TV and white illumination similar to McDonalds. There is no charm at all. A bottle of tap water is charged 2 EUR.

A gem in Dublin 4 - highly recommended for a special occasion or a refined meal. The interior is incredibly cozy and the service was attentive from start to finish. The team even remembered the birthday note from my reservation and brought out a candle which was a lovely touch. The food was top notch. The duck leg and the sauce were the standout. The beef was cooked perfectly. For starters don’t miss the leek vinaigrette or the anchovies. I was also impressed by the drink list and the good selection of non-alcoholic wines and to my suprise a brilliant Kolsch style indie pale ale from Donegal.
