Sixty Japanese gins, tea cocktails, and a window seat over the Kamo
B kyoto opened on 9 January 2026, one floor above A kyoto, with window seats that look straight down at the Kamo River. The shelves hold more than sixty Japanese craft gins and over fifteen domestic whiskies, and the cocktail list leans on Japanese tea, which works better than it sounds.
It runs as a café from 1pm, then switches to cocktails at 7pm, covering the dead hours when most Kyoto bars haven't opened yet. Last call is midnight.

Cozy & stylish cafe with a great view of the Kamo river through the large windows, which is the real reason to visit B Kyoto. Drinks were well made, but nothing particularly memorable neither. Worth it for the setting & view !

Walked past this cafe bar a few times over the past week, but was always deterred by the evening shower. The weather finally cleared up on a Tuesday evening. We dropped by for the interesting tea cocktails that were advertised at the doorway. We noted that the place was separated into A Kyoto and B Kyoto within the same building, and the latter is situated on level 2 of the building. We were greeted by a friendly male staff who offered us the much preferred window platform seats. The whole place was extremely vibey (woody and dark), and the view of the river and temple across added to the ambiance. The place was half packed even at a quarter past 7pm. After a few short minutes, we realised that we were not accustomed to how the locals sat at the window platform, and requested for the table instead when the previous customers left. There was no fuss whatsoever regarding our request, and we were shifted within a minute after the table was cleared. We started with the matcha kahlua and strawberry matcha tea cocktails. While I personally thought the matcha and kahlua was incoherent in terms of flavour, it was overall a pleasant cocktail that was well concocted by a skilled bartender. The strawberry matcha, however, was the best glass of matcha we had in the past few days. It was unsugared and the taste of matcha stood out. The bittersweet strawberry liquor did well to bring out the flavour and quality of the matcha. The blend was so refined and smooth that we forgot that it was a cocktail, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We ended off with the royal black tea, which was aromatic and creamy, like a refined chai latte. It tended on the sweet side, which is a great dessert drink, though a little too sweet to finish on its own due to the generous serving. The espresso martini and hojicha old-fashioned seemed interesting too, but we had reached our caffeine limit for the day. While there were desserts available, we thought that a few savoury bar snacks could help ease the caffeinated kick after a few drinks. The crowd swamped in after 8pm, and while we had another 30mins to our designated time at the table, we decided to let others enjoy the swanky cafe bar. Definitely recommended for cocktail lovers who would like to try something new!

The hot matcha latte is rich and delicious, and the matcha Basque cheesecake has a strong matcha flavor. The café latte is slightly on the bitter side. The environment is very nice, and the window seats offer a beautiful view of the Kamo River. Overall, I highly recommend the matcha items.
