Order your coffee in sign language
Cafe Anuvanda sits at the top end of Tenjinbashisuji, and every order here happens without a word spoken. The staff are deaf, so you order through sign language or a written note.
A card on the table teaches you the basic signs before you even get to the counter. Hearing customers manage fine, and the coffee holds up on its own.

It's been about a year since we first met, and I finally visited! 😊 Both first-timers and regulars were so friendly and welcoming, using sign language to connect with everyone. Even with my limited sign language skills (I'm still learning!), I had a wonderful time. I'm really looking forward to the sign language lesson on May 18th! 🙆♂️

Curry is something that people's opinions on vary greatly. Unfortunately, the taste of this curry just didn't suit my taste this time. Although they use sign language and written communication, there were no problems whatsoever. I like this kind of restaurant. I hope they will continue to improve by having honest discussions about the taste with their regular customers. I have high hopes.

They warmly welcomed me, even though I had just started learning sign language. I want to improve my sign language skills, and the healthy curry was delicious, so I would like to visit again.

Although it's advertised as a "sign language and writing cafe," I was able to communicate properly by speaking slowly and clearly. (^^) The previous cafe was also homey, but the new ANUVANDA has a very bright and welcoming atmosphere. The female owner's smile is lovely, and just looking at it makes me feel at ease. To order, you point to the menu on the counter in the back. Since it was my first time, I ordered the "shrimp curry" listed at the top. I paid when I ordered. Water was self-service. The food was served quickly and in stylish dishes. The taste wasn't particularly spicy, but I could really taste the spices and it was delicious. It might not be for people who like sweeter food. There's no music playing in the cafe, but the atmosphere is very relaxing. It made me want to learn sign language. I'll definitely be back. April 19, 2024 I had keema curry. I was so hungry I forgot to take a photo... It was spicy, but not too hot. I could eat bowl after bowl. (^^)
