A language-school café where coffee profits pay for classes for at-risk kids

Santisouk Café runs as part of STS Foreign Language Center, and every profit goes toward education for at-risk youth nearby instead of a private owner's pocket. It keeps a short, honest schedule: open three weekday afternoons and Saturday mornings, closed entirely through June and July.

Saturday doubles as a free English Conversation Club, foreigners and local students talking over coffee for an hour before the café opens for regular business. It's upstairs near the STS center, behind Lao-Viet Bank, a small operation with no interest in being Phonsavan's biggest café.

Good to know

Open limited hours only: Mon/Wed/Fri 3:30-6:30pm and Saturday 9am-1pm; closed June and July.
Saturday morning is English Conversation Club, free and open to anyone who wants to practice with a native speaker.

This cafe I’m really recommend to you all to come, especially they have delicious food and tasty drinks. I recommended fried Taco and Yogurt bowl. It’s yummy! Beside these, there is English speaking club every Saturday, you’ll have a chance to improve your English skill with native speaker. Don’t missed this opportunity. Come and try!

Wow, what a great experience! We had a large group visit the cafe - they served us so well, and the food was EXCELLENT. Our whole group was blown away at the quality of the taco and BBQ meat! All the kids enjoyed their food as well (calzones, hotdogs)! The homemade desserts were delicious, and the drinks were refreshing. They were efficient and kind in their service, and the atmosphere was inviting, lovely, and clean. Bathrooms were clean as well! Thank you, Santisouk Cafe, for taking care of our group so well!
