Bar Oum Rabie

★ 4.1 · 726 reviews Chefchaouen Opened Opening date unknown

One of the only bars in Chefchaouen pouring a real drink.

Bar Oum Rabie is one of maybe three places in Chefchaouen where you can order a beer or a glass of wine, which alone makes it worth knowing in a town that's mostly dry. It's a proper local bar, not a hotel terrace serving cocktails to tourists.

Order a drink and they'll bring a small plate of food with it, tapas style: grilled meat and mountain specialties rather than a full menu. It only opens in the evening and not every day, so check ahead if you're planning around it.

Good to know

  • Evening hours only, and not open every day, check ahead.
  • Each drink comes with a small plate, tapas style.
  • One of the only true bars in a mostly dry town.

Very good service atmosphere and tapas. We stopped there for a dinner and some drinks and it was amazing. It’s situated in the middle of the city and has really good music. The owner Abdennour is a really nice person.

This place is fine if you need a beer or wine. It’s a little dinghy. Lots of smoking inside. Luckily we found a small corner that was less smoky to have a beer and plan our next move.

Decent food in an above-ground yet underground world where alcohol is not only served but home to a bustling to-go bottle shop as well. If you appreciate watching the inside trade of alcohol where it is generally prohibited, you will appreciate this place. A bit smokey but worth it.

Only place in town I could find to have a wine. Mostly locals enjoying a drink, but a few tourists quenching thirst also there. Decent Spanish, Italian, French and local wines. Surprised to see imported wine priced lower. You can also buy and take out. No glass of wine, but some half bottles. Best to go to the display and pick what you need as printed menu is indicative at best. A nice find and recommend a visit.

Fun place to people watch and have great local Morrocon dishes for a very fair table. Good choice.
