Open-fire dinner and a late bar next to Chateau Amsterdam

Dinner first, dancing after. Camarat runs on that arc in the Hamerkwartier, where Beau van Haren and Ruben Andriesse cook over open fire in a kitchen you can watch from the room. It took over the restaurant of urban winery Chateau Amsterdam in September 2025, and the neighbour still hosts wine tastings.

Gault&Millau picked it up within months and gave it 12.5 points, notable for a place this young in Noord. The fire does most of the talking on the plate.

We celebrated a 40th birthday at Camarat, and it was absolutely fantastic! The food was exceptional—every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The staff were incredibly warm, friendly, and attentive. A huge thank you to the entire team for accommodating our group of 28 people

I almost loved this place. While the veal cheek really disappointed me, I will say that the tomato water ceviche and the fish main were outstanding. Order those. The meat was lacking seasoning, it was pretty average. The candlelight, outdoor seating and DJ was a real vibe.

We booked the wine tasting as we had done it with Chateau Amsterdam a few years back. Unfortunately, it was a big let down. We expected to be walked around, shown where it's made, have a pairing, and even a scorecard. This has all changed. The service wasn't very attentive. Maybe we were just unlucky, but the place was beautiful, and we might consider trying again just for dinner another time.
