No menu, just a chef's surprise, in a living room

Skip the decision fatigue. Koper serves one thing only: a four or five course chef's menu that changes often enough that regulars come back just to see what replaced last time's meal. The owners call it a living room restaurant, and the room backs that up: small, run by a couple who've lived in Haarlem since 2011.

The Lange Veerstraat is one of the busiest short streets off the Grote Markt, but Koper has no display and no card in the window, so it's easy to walk past. Gault&Millau found it anyway. The kitchen works to the table, not a rota.

Cosy atmosphere in a quaint restaurant. Had the tea pairing 5 dishes menu and was blown away by the pairing. We truly enjoyed every bite and drink as each tea paired enhanced the flavor and taste of each dish.

Spent a lovely evening at Restaurant Koper tonight…creative and well executed food and friendly service that never left us wanting for anything. We will definitely be back.

Wow. My husband and I were looking for somewhere nice to celebrate a promotion & our anniversary. Usually we pre-plan where we go but we stumbled across here, walked in with no reservation and had the best night. The fixed menu & wine pairing was unmatched with anything I have ate in recent years. We haven't stopped talking about the experience. One lovely waitress, and one lovely chef who made our night so special. I can't wait to come back. Considering what you get in return, the price is completely reasonable.
