Onigiri and ceremonial matcha on the Hooikade

Warm onigiri, shaped by hand, are the reason to walk down to the Hooikade. Add a bowl of soup and some shokupan and this Dutch café gets a Japanese accent.

The matcha is ceremonial grade and whisked to order. It's open Tuesday to Saturday only, and the kitchen stops at half three.

Beautiful spot with extremely kind service and delicious, fresh japanese food. Onigiris were delicious and fairly priced, their egg sandwich was also super nice. Highly recommended!

Lovely and friendly Japanese folks opened this cafe last month. The food and drinks are authentic and delicious, just like in Tokyo! Recommend trying their set with miso soup and two onigiri 🍙 and surely their sando with fruits, it is soooo fresh and creamy!

The people were lovely and the service was very good, the onigiris i ordered however, were very lightly filled. I ordered the salmon and tuna mayo onigiri and both of them barely had any fish in them. It felt like i was just eating a ball of rice for almost 5 euros :(
