A low-key wine bar in the old Bar Senang space
Wijn Boer sits at Samuel Hirschstraat 1, in the room that once held Bar Senang, the Asian-leaning bar Thérèse Boer ran with her husband Jonnie Boer of De Librije. The concept has been stripped back to wine: a rotating list by the glass plus a small run of bottles.
Dishes are built for sharing rather than a sit-down menu, made to match whatever's open that week rather than the other way round.

As someone from Brabant, I always thought that the most hospitality could really be found in Brabant. Well… I have to take my words back. From the moment we stepped into Wijn Boer, we felt welcome. Incredibly hospitable, relaxed, and genuine. The only downside? That we have to drive two hours to get there; otherwise, we would be here much more often. And then the food… what a treat! Every dish was meticulously prepared, full of flavor, and made with love. Add to that beautiful wines and a relaxed atmosphere that makes you not want to leave. Isabelle, you and your team have created such an amazing place. And a big compliment also to Jonnie and Thérèse Boer. Their passion, craftsmanship, and hospitality have clearly found a wonderful continuation. The apple indeed does not fall far from the tree. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon/evening. We enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back!

Look, it was absolutely not “bad.” It is a perfectly fine place to have a glass of wine. But is it “wow”? No, not necessarily. The staff is friendly but doesn't seem to know much about wine. Unfortunately, they didn't get any further than “this one is nice and crisp.” The food is original and affordable, but the tompouce was very disappointing. We also felt like we were asked a little too often if we wanted to order more food. The service is good, but to us, this felt a bit too much like upselling. All in all fine, but you can find better in Zwolle. At least as far as we are concerned.

Yesterday was a very pleasant father-daughter evening catching up at the nicest hotspot in Zwolle. Consciously culinary and with good wines, because a hotelier has high standards. Wijnboer surprises with a beautiful interior, a cozy atmosphere with fun and diverse guests, and nice spots to sit and enjoy. The entire service and kitchen exude professionalism and are very skillfully managed by Isabelle Boer. The dishes continue to surprise and the wines are very special. Every dish and glass of wine is carefully explained by TOP staff. We had the table entirely to ourselves from 19:00 to 22:00. The entire experience is absolutely 10/10. Well worth a visit or a return visit. It took a bit of searching, but next to Bras Boer, you'll find Wijnboer. Lovely hostesses, fine wines with good advice, and tasty little dishes; in short, a wonderful Saturday afternoon ♡

Wijn Boer, located in the former Senang building, is a fun new addition to Zwolle for those who enjoy good wine paired with approachable sharing dishes. In the opening weeks it was almost impossible to get onto the guest list — but was it worth the hype? I’d say yes, provided you come here with the right mindset. This is first and foremost a wine bar, and quite an enjoyable one at that. The selection by the glass is broad enough, the atmosphere lively, and the menu playful without trying too hard. We shared several dishes: oysters, crispy fish and of course the extravagant “Frikandel Echt Speciaal” topped with caviar — unapologetically over the top, but honestly great fun for €50.00 a piece. Now, let’s address the obvious: the pricing. If you start comparing bottle prices with retail prices at the wine shop around the corner, you may have a difficult evening. €17.50 for a glass of Miraval is undeniably ambitious when a bottle costs around €20 retail. But if that sort of thing doesn’t bother you too much — and frankly it didn’t bother me either — then just lean into it. Book a table, order a few glasses, enjoy the buzz and the people watching. A stylish, energetic and slightly extravagant place that Zwolle frankly didn’t have yet. A little gem.
