Comfort fine dining, cooked entirely over open fire

Ember sits at Weversgildeplein 1, in a historic building in the centre of Zwolle. Owners Kiki Bult and Bart van Diepen call it comfort fine dining: every dish on the menu passes over open flame, with van Diepen running the fire in the kitchen and Bult on the floor.

Dinner runs Tuesday to Saturday, with lunch added on Fridays and Saturdays.

By far the best restaurant I’ve eaten at in Zwolle. Don’t look at the menu, just let the staff and chef decide the menu for you and trust the wine pairings. Everything was exceptional, however the tartar, eel, and soup were standout dishes.

We visited Ember for the second time this evening and once again it was an outstanding experience. The menu was completely new and every dish was a delight. The flavors were creative and surprising, showcasing ultra-fresh ingredients and top-quality products. The ribeye was perfectly cooked with a nice fat cap and paired wonderfully with a red wine recommendation from the hostess that complemented the dish exceptionally well. The dessert was equally impressive, featuring refreshing notes of orange zest and seasonal red fruit that created a delicious and unexpected flavor combination. The service was great: attentive, professional and genuine. Combined with the warm and inviting atmosphere, a truly memorable evening. Ember continues to impress. We are already looking forward to our next visit
