Colonial bones, industrial fittings, coffee till late

Porteños' second Trujillo room sits on Francisco Solano, a collision of colonial architecture and industrial fittings. It's the best-looking coffee room in the city, hands down.

Coffee starts at 8:30am, and the doors stay open long past most cafés close. That makes it double as a bar substitute once the sun goes down.

Ideal for enjoying a good Peruvian coffee, its atmosphere and service are calm and peaceful.

This place has a very pleasant atmosphere with two outdoor areas, ideal for Trujillo's climate at any time of year. The coffee is very good, and they have a wide variety of bakery and pastry products. They also offer a mate experience, which is very interesting for those unfamiliar with this beverage (they give you the bombilla as a souvenir). However, the service needs improvement; they don't seem very attentive to customers and need to work hard.

In my opinion, this place doesn't disappoint, from the visuals to the desserts, although the coffee is the big exception. Let's break it down: the place is spacious, beautiful, and designed to make the most of each area. The service was very good, not excellent, but very, very good. The desserts look good and taste even better; if there's one thing to highlight, it's probably this. On the other hand, something I loved was the availability of yerba mate and accessories, since I'm a big fan of this beverage, and finding a good variety is difficult, and this place offers a good selection. Now, the big exception was the coffee. Despite having the necessary equipment for good coffee, the coffee is definitely not good. It's over-burnt, and the bitterness is typical of burnt coffee, not a natural roast, masking any other flavor notes from the bean. It could be due to a lack of training on the part of the barista or perhaps a defect in the beans, but this is, in my opinion, the only thing that works against them.

Very cool, it's very fast pace, go in order at the counter and be on your way.
