A coffee break that funds a second chance

Order a flat white and you're funding a job program. Caffè Verde on Verdijeva ulica is a City of Koper pilot that trains and employs people with disabilities and others shut out of the job market. They run the counter and the kitchen.

By the door, shelves hold ceramics and textiles made by the same staff, priced to sell alongside the coffee. The street has quietly worked as an informal gallery row for local artists for years, and the name is a pun on Verdijeva itself, shortened to "verde," green.

  A wonderful café in the heart of Koper's old town! We enjoyed a delicious cappuccino and fresh croissants in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The prices are very fair, the interior is beautifully designed, and the chairs are exceptionally comfortable – a great place to sit back and take a break. What makes this café truly special is its commitment to inclusion. People with disabilities are actively employed as part of the service team and are wonderfully integrated into the daily operation. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Koper!
