A beach beer bar with a modern edge, minus the crowds

Skip the packed sand at La Caleta or Victoria. Barra Santa sits on Santa María del Mar, a quieter stretch south of the old town, and does the classic cervecería de playa with a cleaner look than your usual chiringuito.

There's cold beer, simple plates and plastic chairs planted right in the sand. No table service, just grab a seat and flag someone down. It runs through the summer season, so check hours if you're visiting outside July or August.
