Sunami

★ 4.8 · 1,163 reviews Taipei Opened 28 June 2025

The Ooh Cha Cha team's big vegan swing

The chef behind Ooh Cha Cha spent a decade making it Taipei's vegan reference point. Sunami is the scaled-up follow-up: a standalone glass building on Civic Boulevard with lounge-y half-moon sofas and a kitchen doing creative vegetable cooking with zero egg or dairy.

There's a proper bar, too, with happy hour from 17:30 to 19:00 discounting cocktails and beer. It reads like a restaurant that happens to be vegan, which is the point.

Absolutely a must try! We came in for lunch and had a 5-star meal with fantastic service. The Sicilian coffee was like a coffee cocktail - tangy with a kick. Delicious! All of the dishes were so tasty and with incredible depth in taste. Amazing!

went over to sunami to have lunch and got the set for 2 pax, the taste surprise me, food came fast and the vegan taste of the food overwhelm my palate. distance from metro station still alright about 5mins of walk. will be going back to try out other food at my availability.

After eating at local Taiwanese places the first three days in Taipei, we were feeling a bit fancy. Also we wanted something other than stinky tofu and soup/noodles. The area this place is located in, seems to an outsider, to be a hip up and coming place. There's lots of cafes and hair salons around. Walking in, you're greeted by friendly English speaking staff. This makes the ordering process painless. The food was quite good. The tofu kaarage was the star. I could eat a whole plate of this stuff! The eel rice was pretty realistic according to my wife who has had eel back in the day. It was good but I could use more sauce on the rice portion of the dish. The torched avocado rolls were delicious but I wished they used avocado instead of guacamole like mash. The yuba and mushroom skewers seemed like a great concept, but the taste and texture was somehow off. The drink with the passion fruit seeds and chewy bits was excellent. Perfectly done. I would recommend this place if you have extra cash and want to try something a bit different from the rest of the Vegan scene in Taipei.

Amazing food!!! We went for a late dinner so the time for last order was 20:15, we decided to do the small sides + cocktails!!! The tofu karage, furikake fries, yangyeom mushrooms, pineapple spring rolls are all amazing!!! And finished off with purple rice-coconut icecream, so goooood!!! The cocktails are amazing too, especially Guava Gone Wild! Will def go again!
