Mediterranean meets Japanese, six floors above Oak Street
Arla took over the entire sixth floor of the former Barneys building on Oak Street, opening June 18, 2026, from the team behind Adalina and Adalina Prime. Chef and partner Soo Ahn runs a kitchen that pairs Mediterranean flavors with Japanese technique.
The menu runs from seafood crudo and sushi rolls at one end to pita, mezze, skewers and grilled meats at the other. Two open terraces, one at Oak and Rush, one over Mariano Park, seat 60 between them, with the lake and skyline visible from 8,500 square feet of dining room.

Arla Chicago delivered one of the best dinners my wife and I have had in a long time. The place is buzzing the moment you walk in. We grabbed an outdoor table with only a short wait and dove into the spicy whipped feta and garlic pita, so good they offered extra bread. The mushroom and chicken skewers were incredible, and while the yuzu caviar mafaldine was good, it felt a bit overhyped. The lamb chops and A5 wagyu were both outstanding. Cheesecake closed things out perfectly. Ruben, our server, was excellent, knowledgeable, attentive, and never rushed us. A lively atmosphere, great service, and memorable dishes.

The absolute perfect place for date night. The Asian and Middle Eastern inspired dishes made for a magnificent dining experience. The basque cheesecake for dessert was out of this world, and the staff was attentive and personable. Cannot wait to go back!

I had an amazing experience at ARLA. I know the owner through Adalina, and it was clear from the moment we walked in that a lot of passion and attention to detail went into creating this place. The atmosphere is elegant and inviting, the service was warm and attentive, and every dish came out beautifully presented. The food was fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared. The meat was cooked perfectly, the dips were rich and well-balanced, and even the smaller details on the table felt intentional. I especially love that they offer halal options. It is not always easy to find a restaurant that feels upscale while also being inclusive, so this truly stood out to me. ARLA is a great addition to the area, and I would absolutely recommend it for a nice dinner, celebration, or evening out. I am already looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu

Absolutely stunning dining experience. We were able to snag a table outside and have a lovely view of the neighborhood and the lake. The over ambience and aesthetic of the restaurant is absolutely stunning. Love the decor. The food - insane. The spicy whipped feta was so delicious. Octopus skewers were some of the best I've ever had, whatever they put in the brown butter puree should be illegal, lol. The caviar pasta and the miso cod were both must gets and the portion sizes are really good for the price point. The service, 10/10. We had Jack and he was absolutely delightful and so attentive. For having recently opened they are operating like a well oiled machine. Can't wait to go back!

Arla has taken the crown as best restaurant in the Gold Coast! The customer service is top notch, as you are greeted twice before you get to your table. The ambiance is very chic and modern with great views from the outdoor terrace. However the cuisine is the star of the show. I had the Tzatziki Salmon Maki, Miso Cod, Mediterranean Salad, Dumplings and Lamb Chops and there wasn't a single miss. Also, if you need anything at all ask for Eldridge Williams, the well dressed, African American Assistant General and he will attend to your needs. An ABSOLUTE must try in Chicago!
