Mama Jo's Chicken, Biscuits, BBQ

Fried chicken and biscuits, made all night long
Fried chicken, buttery biscuits, slow-smoked barbecue: Mama Jo's keeps it simple and does it well. The biscuits get baked fresh in batches through service instead of once in the morning, so the ones you get at 8pm taste like the ones at noon.
East Colfax has turned into one of Denver's more interesting restaurant strips lately, and Mama Jo's is the casual, grab-a-box-and-go end of that wave. Portions are built for sharing, so bring a friend or plan on leftovers.

Came here for dinner and sat outside enjoying the summer ambience while eating some incredible food. We got the jackfruit plate and the fried green tomato biscuit sandwich. We saw how much they gave us and thought for sure we'd never be able to eat it all. Well it was so good we barely left a bite. We'll definitely be coming back!

This place is such a gem, the food is some of the best BBQ + fried chicken we have ever found in Denver. Rob has helped us pick our orders twice now and everything has been amazing. If you are debating it definitely give it a shot!

I do have to say this place has become a staple for our household. It’s focusing on making sure there is quality food for a decent price and we are satisfied every single time. Highly recommend a plate (or two) with the baked beans and biscuit. I find the service friendly and prompt (love that it’s counter service) and the food just slaps. I was skeptical that it would be good value since the prices are a smidge on the higher end but there’s a reason we keep coming back, again and again!!

Came here twice so far. Great Carolina-style barbecue; and perfect fried green tomatoes! The second time I came here I got one of the best chicken & biscuit sandwiches I've had in a while. Everything about the sandwich was superior. A massive, juicy chicken thigh with a perfectly crispy deep fried coating (sometimes chicken thighs can be fatty and gristly but this was neither), heaping amount of pimento cheese, perfect sweet & sour homemade pickle slices, and a subtle sweet/slightly spicy pepper jam. All between a rich buttery, cheesy biscuit. Will return for their fried chicken Friday special, cuz that fried chicken on the sandwich alone was something magnificent.

We are extremely spoiled to have such good BBQ just a few blocks away. On our most-recent visit, we shared their brisket (Saturdays), the smoked pork hot links, and the Nashville hot chicken sandwich, and the smoked jack fruit. We felt like the Alabama White BBQ sauce and the apple BBQ sauce really went well with the jack fruit. If I could eat BBQ every day, I would. And especially here at Mama Jo's. The staff is friendly, the food is excellent, and I'll be back again very soon. Thanks!
