Texas smoke meets Northern Mexico heat

The brisket and smoked chicken get the same long oak treatment that later made Chicken Riot a hit in Cherry Creek. Pitmaster Patrick Klaiber and chef Manny Barella run this one rougher around the edges, closer to a working smokehouse than a designed restaurant.

That's the appeal. South Delaware Street gets Texas-style barbecue pulled sideways by Northern Mexico flavor, with none of the polish of Denver's newer barbecue openings.
