Coffee and bento by day, wine bar after dark

Makanai runs coffee and bento in the morning, then flips into wine and small plates in the evening. That split schedule is unusual enough that it's part of what people talk about.

It opened on Wilder Avenue in Makiki in December 2025, in the space that used to be Sure Shot Cafe. Makiki doesn't get many standalone cafe openings compared to Kaimuki or Kaka'ako. A renovated interior and an actual wine list stand out on a street of older storefronts.
