Pigeonhole

A small changing menu instead of forty drinks on paper
Pigeonhole runs on a small, changing cocktail menu, not a laminated list of forty drinks. Honolulu Magazine wrote it up for the bar bites as much as the cocktails.
It opened on Smith Street in Chinatown in March 2026, in the old Tlaxcalli space. It's walk-in only, open evenings into the early morning.

Nestled in Chinatown, this bar has delicious drinks with colorful descriptions and even tastier pupus. If you're attending a show at the Hawaii Theatre down the road, make room for this spot before or after. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, great food and drinks, and plenty of parking across the street. Pop in, have a good time, and drive responsibly

We happened to visit Pigeonhole on National Pigeon Day, which was a delightful surprise! They were celebrating with specialty drinks for the occasion, adding an extra layer of fun to an already great night. I ordered a mezcal cocktail (forgot da name) that was a nod to the former Mexican restaurant space, while my friends enjoyed a variety of creative and delicious drinks of their own. The bar was absolutely poppin' on a Saturday night, and we were lucky to arrive before the crowd rolled in. For food, we ordered the scallion pancake and the chili oil parmesan popcorn. The scallion pancake was fine, but it wasn't anything particularly memorable compared to others I've had... I was hoping for more flakiness and crunch. The chili oil parmesan popcorn, however, completely flew me out of the water. The combination of flavors was incredible--an umami bomb in every bite! The parmesan perfectly balanced the heat and complexity of the chili oil, creating a snack that was impossible to stop eating. Almost ordered another one but we held back! xD Between the fun National Pigeon Day festivities, creative cocktails, excellent popcorn, and great Chinatown vibes, Pigeonhole delivered. 10/10 would fly back again!

The drinks, atmosphere and food are of the highest quality! This is the perfect spot to meet up with friends. Take a date or go solo. Indoor and outdoor seating was excellent. Highly recommend the tea eggs and chicken wings for food and the Deep Dove and Forbidden Sushi drinks. No reservations needed because this spot aims to provide a highly convenient experience. You MUST go and don't forget to buy a round for the kitchen staff!

Nice little cocktail bar with Asian flare. Gets loud with everyone's conversations, but an enjoyable place. The drinks are strong! Bartenders were entertaining to watch and were very friendly. Fyi late hours food menu is reduced from normal menu.
