Chicago's sushi room, now on Houston Street
Momotaro left Chicago for the first time in June 2026 and picked Wedgewood-Houston to do it. The dining room mixes Japanese mid-century furniture with wood paneling and vintage Americana, which sounds like a mess and somehow isn't. Dry-aged bluefin and kampachi lead the raw side; the robata grill handles everything else.
Sit at the counter if you can. The made-to-order rolls with scallop, unagi and crab are the easy order, but the aged tuna is what people talk about on the way out.

Cold menu items like the crudo and sushi aren't worth it or the kitchen was off their game that night; every fish cut I had was not great except the smoked nigiri bite. The Tantan Ramen is the only food on the menu I'd suggest and would go back for. Bartenders were awesome.

Absolutely incredible. Chef Gene’s mastery of sushi and Japanese flavors in unparalleled. Ever dish hit and we even ran back the hotate nigiri a second time bc it was so good. Kensie our server was a natural and it was only her 3rd night which blew our minds. 10/10 can’t miss addition to Nashvilles thriving dining scene.

Food was just okay. Definitely did not meet my expectations with the decor and atmosphere of the place. Very expensive too which I would have been fine paying for it if the quality was there. Overview: Yellowtail app - fishy and not good, pretty presentation Shishitos - delicious Beef sliders- undercooked we had to send back and ask for well done 3 piece hand roll set - fine, crispy shrimp was the best Blue crab hand roll - fine Spicy tuna roll - delicious Green room cocktail - delicious (but it should be it’s a $20 cocktail)

Well worth it. Every bite. Chef was phenomenal. Emily, our waitress, was phenomenal. Phil, the GM, was phenomenal. Such a great price point for the quality presented and enjoyed! Will definitely be back again!

Overwhelmingly delicious food. We ate everything and loved every single bite. Sushi! Beef! Chicken! And believe it folks that burger on a homemade bao bun was a culinary rock star.
