Sumac-spiced grilling inside L&L Market
Kardes opened in the L&L Market building on Charlotte Avenue in June 2025 with a chef at the grill and a menu short enough to read in ten seconds: sumac-spiced lamb, chicken, sucuk, warm Turkish hummus, house yogurt with peaches.
Finish with maraş ice cream, the stretchy kind you have to work at with a spoon. Hattori Nori and Pont Neuf share the same building.

This was one of the best meals I have eaten. We had the Borek, which comes with more cheese, olives and tomatoes with a side of cucumbers… so good. Then we had the chicken kebab plate, so delicious and the rice was so yummy we had a second plate. The greens have a subtle taste and so good! We even had a second plate Borek with tea!

This place doesn't get enough love. The food is spectacular and so is the service. We've been here a handful of times, each time getting something different. I highly recommend the hummus and Kisir as starters. The lamb wrap and chicken kebabs are great as well.

The hospitality and service were excellent. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and even offered complimentary hot Turkish tea before I placed my order, which was a nice touch. The food was acceptable overall, but the beef meatballs were disappointing. Instead of meatballs, the dish consisted of five small flat, heavily charred pieces of ground beef that did not resemble meatballs in appearance or texture. While the flavor was decent, the menu description did not match what was served. Overall, a pleasant experience thanks to the warm hospitality and attentive service.

We had the pleasure of trying a few of Selim’s dishes about a year ago and have been eager to try his new restaurant since then. Today’s experience was just as we remembered; fresh and flavorful. You can tell each dish uses high quality ingredients that are meant to complement each other. We tried the hummus and the “mixed grill” both of which were phenomenal (see pictures)!

Easily my favorite restaurant in Nashville. I love how fresh the food is, the taste is amazing, and the service is great. I always get the chicken skewer which feels like home cooked food. It’s chicken seasoned to perfection, a portion of rice with chickpeas, a small salad and few extras like a roasted sweet pepper some pita bread, and some pickles. If you’re in the mood to eat out but want something fresh and homey, this is your place.
