Mexico City design and 200 agave bottles at the Noelle

Lona took over the old Makeready space in the Noelle hotel in January 2025, done in earth tones with murals nodding to Mexico City. The kitchen follows: lump crab guacamole, enchiladas, tacos.

The bar keeps more than 200 tequilas and mezcals, which is the largest agave list downtown. Ask for a flight rather than guessing.

Had an absolutely amazing dining experience. Based on other reviews, I tried the guacamole and it was the best I've ever had! The last quesadilla was also amazing! In addition to the excellent food, I thought the service was top-notch. Claude was our server, and he was very friendly and welcoming, gave us some great recommendations, and was very attentive without overdoing it. A couple other staff members stopped by and checked on us occasionally, and we also got a visit from the chef. I don't know why we received all of this attention, but they all seem to genuine in wanting to ensure we had a great experience. Next time I come to Nashville, I will absolutely visit this restaurant again. It was truly outstanding experience.

It was a humid Nashville evening when I crossed the threshold of Lona. Instantly, my senses were surprised by a night club feel. A disc jockey! Spinning records in a dining room! At first, the bravado of the beat gripped me. "A cool vibe," the youth might say. But drama, like a poorly timed monsoon, quickly ensued. Once seated with my five companions, the reality of the music settled in. Conversation? Difficult with six people. Imagine the confusion - maybe the intent was eclectic - atmosphere we were serenaded by the DJ playing Pharrell Williams’ "Happy." Which clashed with the beauty of the place and murals. I am not a hater of happy, but the claim of Lona is to redefine the Mexican dining experience and I guess to that end they did, just not in a way I would hope for. I guess I will remember it as it is different than your typical Mexican food establishment. They speak of combining traditional flavors with contemporary techniques and artistic presentation. I am unaware of the contemporary techniques hidden in the kitchen. The flavors were traditional but searched for and failed to find the artistic presentation I hoped to. I submit a picture of my nachos. Look closely! Does this strike you as an artistic presentation? Certainly the murals in the room are wonderful but oh how I had hoped that flair would be extended to our meals as well. Ah, yes. The nachos. I was seduced. Beguiled by my date into ordering them. A catastrophic error in judgment! With chicken added, the bill came to a staggering $32.00! Our waiter assured me it would satisfy two to three hungry souls which turned out to be a stretch of the imagination worthy of a pulp novel. They were... fine. But at that price, I longed to be wowed, to be transported! Instead, I was merely fed. My companions fared better on their quest. One dined on enchiladas that tasted as magnificent as they looked. Another ordered fajitas, a tasty triumph! As with the nachos not the wow one might expect, but serviceable all the same. And the plantains? Fun and tasty. A brief glimpse of the paradise we were promised. The service, much like a cargo trek through the high Andes, had its perils. Our guide missed two drink orders entirely on his first pass. Yet, like a seasoned sherpa, he rectified the mistake with admirable swiftness upon his return. I entered Lona expecting an oasis of culinary majesty, I left fed and satisfied but caring out a few unmet expectations. Perhaps the magic was there and I simply missed it. But then, do not trust my counsel blindly... after all, I am the man who ordered the nachos!

Had a great experience at Lona in Nashville! The food was fresh, flavorful, and came out quickly. Our server, Niki, was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. Jose, our food runner, was also excellent—he was professional, helpful, and kept everything running smoothly. The combination of great service and delicious food made for a wonderful dining experience. Im in Nashville frequently for work and will definitely be back!

We came in last Saturday night. We are so glad we made a reservation ahead of time because they were pretty busy. Nikki was our server. She was very informative about the menu. The enlightenment cocktail was delicious. The food runner José was so polite. We will definitely be back.

We were from out of town and Nikki was our server, she was the sweetest most polite and informative server we have had any where in a long time. The guacamole she made at our table was the GOAT!! We never had to ask for a refill and as busy as she was, she made sure we wanted for nothing. Because of her and the AMAZING food, we will be back every single time we come to Nashville. Did I mention...... the DJ was on point with the music selection!!
