Continental cooking in a former Piggly Wiggly

Junior opened on Dickerson Pike in August 2025 in an old Piggly Wiggly, from a restaurant family with a track record around town. The cooking is continental and technical without making a performance of it: sweet corn barbajuan, pork and chicken pâté en croûte, bavette cooked asador style.

The wine list runs to about 150 bottles and is the reason to sit at the bar rather than a table.

Every visit is a decadent explosion of flavors and combinations of herbs, oils, and ingredients that I have not had anywhere else in Nashville. This visit last night was a treat. We started with the quail egg with o-toro tuna and anchovy along with the buckwheat tempura fried cauliflower. The had the vegetables with prosciutto and the crab tagliolini. The night was finished with the soufflé that was revised for the summer to be strawberry with vanilla ice cream. The sommelier paired this with a small producer light red wine with raspberry notes and it was perfect. They have a small but impressive classic cocktail list and a variety of hard to find and new wines. We tried one that was a blend of red and white wine from a new young producer, and it was wonderful. You will not be disappointed with the food, the vibe, or the people that run this amazing neighborhood spot!

My husband brought me here for my first Mother’s Day! It was amazing!!!! Absolutely incredible food and atmosphere. We loved it and will definitely be back! My hubby has been trying to find me a chocolate soufflé in Nashville since we got married, nobody serves it for some reason! So I am so beyond thrilled that you have it! That’s actually why he brought me here. Please never get rid of it! It’s amazing!!!! Also the cheese and strawberry dates plate, the prosciutto and artichokes, and the wagyu. All so good! Great job chefs. We are foodies and you are top notch!!!! So glad you are here! :)

This is our second time dining at Junior. This time around we chose Junior to celebrate my girlfriend’s completion of the Music City Marathon. Junior does not disappoint! From the Oyster to the Scallop, the Collard 🤤 I wanted every bite to last forever!! The Blue Fin tuna was so delicious I wanted to lick the plate! The Wagyu beef was the exclamation point of it all. Perfectly charred on the outside and mouth watering perfection on the interior. It literally dissolves in your mouth! We had ordered the chocolate soufflé for dessert but my daughter had a dance competition, was running an hour a head of schedule and we had to cancel that! Cannot miss that! We will definitely be back to try that! Loved our bartender! Hands down one of the best meals you can find in Nashville!

Really a stunning experience. The food was outstanding, particularly the savory dishes. The tuna tartlette and the scallops were really exceptional. But as a wine lover, the somm experience was the true standout. This wine list is original and creative Ask the somm, Billy, to just select the pairings for you, and nails it. Bravo, Junior!

A great neighborhood sister to Rolf and Daughters and Folk. Easy to get into, even in a Friday night. With almost no exterior markings, no apparent handicap parking, this small bistro style restaurant has excellent food, a full bar, and a diverse wine list. This is a full service restaurant; service at the bar was very good. They have wonderful amuse bouche, the Mookiemoto Oyster and the Bluefin Tuna Tartelette with in it’s tiny thin, crispy cup. The mains are small plates. The Grouper is excellent. The Tagliatelle Lamb Ragú is served al dente, and is a little salty. The shareable side Glazed Thumbelina Carrots is fantastic; it could be a main. And desert? Preorder the Chocolate Soufflé, it is not to be missed, final assembly at your table.
