Golden Steer

A 1958 Vegas steakhouse lands in Greenwich Village
Steak the old-fashioned way, no reinvention required. This Las Vegas institution opened its New York room at 1 Fifth Avenue in January 2026, older than most restaurants on the block it now joins.
The address has its own history: Otto held the space, then One Fifth. Golden Steer isn't chasing 2026 trends. The menu is unreconstructed steakhouse, and that's the entire point.

Update July 2026: Returned to give it another shot and was impressed. Service was much better and faster this time which allowed me to focus on the actual food which was way more memorable. Meat quality and the cook were super. Prime rib was also excellent. Overall an enjoyable experience. Value still not great but at least food and service good enough to have a discussion. Final verdict: would return and recommend. ———/ Was excited to try this new steakhouse. Never been to the original in Vegas but heard good things. This nyc edition did not live up to the hype. We tried the prime rib, NY strip , ribeye. Ribeye was the best but overall not very memorable. Food does not separate itself from any other nyc steakhouse. Service was super slow. Dinner took about 3 hours which is ridiculous. Drinks too 15-20m including a glass of wine. It was also way too loud in there. Very hard to have a conversation. Maybe they’re still figuring out operations since they opened recently. I hope so because if that’s Normal service level then people should avoid this place at all costs. Speaking of costs, it was surprisingly expensive compared to the avg steakhouse. Better value, food and service at s&w ,keens, delmonicos. Final verdict? Would not recommend nor return!

We had an amazing experience at Golden Steer. The presentation of the table-side Caesar salad was particularly impressive, as it was our first time trying it. The food was simply phenomenal. The steak was cooked to perfection, just as my partner likes it. The lobster and lamb chops were also incredible. We will definitely be returning in the future.

I had the pleasure of dining at Golden Steer at One Fifth. We celebrated a belated Father's Day and steak was on the agenda. Making a reservation was easy on Open Table- walking in through the revolving doors felt like we were going back to a scene in Casino- with a more sultry and luxurious view. Greeted by SJ- our Maitre'D was all class. The leather semi-circle banquettes were comfortable and SJ happily moved our party when it was too cold. Dirty Martini- on point with the blue cheese stuffed olives and the die skewer- wonderful touch! I could stop here and be THRILLED! Table Service was professional and friendly. We were served by Bishop and Jed who really knew the menu and flawlessly made the tableside Caesar salad a MUST ORDER! Regarding the shrimp appetizer- delicious! The Star of the show the 50 oz Porterhouse and the lobster tail- cooked and presented in a perfect way- and the seasoned salt on the side....heavenly! Don't skimp on the sides- the Vegas sized Baked Potato is a bacon lovers dream! and large enough for the whole table! Lastly, don't leave without trying the Bananas Foster! Overall an amazing experience and worth every penny!!

Like stepping into an old time classic, this place combines the look and feel of a classic American steakhouse from early days in Las Vegas with some of the best food and service out there. The dining room is beautiful and they didn’t miss a single detail. Outstanding food in conjunction with exceptional service!! Make sure you ask for Nicole who will prepare your food table side while providing a history lesson in between doing stand up comedy!! I would give it 10 stars if I could.

Great place! Loved every moment of this experience! Celebrating our anniversary. The escargot, wow! Delicious. We got the special steak with a twice baked potato and carrots. Insanely good! Cook medium rare. For dessert we did the bananas foster. Highly recommend! Made tableside, it ended the meal in such a good way. Been to the Vegas location and so happy we tried the NY location. Thanks again!
