Wood and coal fire on West Broadway, from the Corner Store team
Or'esh takes its name from the Hebrew for light and fire, which is a fair description of the kitchen. Everything of consequence passes over wood or coal: charcoal-roasted vegetables, grilled whole fish, skewers of wagyu built up in eighteen layers.
The team behind The Corner Store opened it on West Broadway. Start with the Jerusalem bagels, served with babaganoush and matbucha. The Snapper Two Ways is the dish the kitchen is known for and it sells out on most nights. Service runs Monday to Saturday, five until eleven.

Or’esh was an exceptional dining experience from start to finish. The food was beautifully presented, thoughtfully prepared, and full of flavor. Every detail felt intentional, from the ambiance to the impeccable service. The hospitality was warm, polished, and genuinely welcoming. A beautiful restaurant with a sophisticated atmosphere and a truly memorable experience.

Oresh had been on my list since they opened and we finally were able to score a reservation! Did it live up to the hype? I believe so. The service was excellent and all of our appetizers and desserts were incredible. If I had 1 critique it would be that our main entrees were Luke warm/Room temp.

I was excited to finally snag a reservation at a Taylor Swift-approved restaurant! We happened to dine on the Fourth of July, which also coincided with her wedding day, and loved the calm, intimate atmosphere. We sat at the bar and ordered the Jerusalem bagel with its assortment of dips, the caviar potato, halloumi, and the shrimp pasta. The shrimp pasta was incredible. I may be going out on a limb, but it was one of the best pasta dishes I've had in NYC. The espresso martini was smooth rather than bitter and came with a salted sesame candy that paired perfectly. We finished with the chocolate tahini cake, which was the perfect ending to the meal. If you're in SoHo and can snag a reservation, I highly recommend it. Every dish felt thoughtful, the service was excellent, and it's easy to see why this place has become such a sought-after reservation.

I had such high expectations and Or’esh truly exceeded all of them. The food was absolutely phenomenal, but the service is what made the experience. Our server, Johnny, could tell how excited we were to be there, and he really took the time to answer all of our questions and explain the story behind both the restaurant and the dishes. His passion and knowledge made the experience even more special. If reservations weren’t so hard to get, I’d absolutely be back for every special occasion.

overall, we had a great time though felt some of the food was a bit overpriced for what it was since they're just so many great restaurants in New York. Definitely had amazing service and the atmosphere is lovely. I would say the appetizers and drinks stand out a lot more than the mains, but everything was absolutely delicious.
