El Sazon R.D.

★ 4.3 · 45 reviews Philadelphia Opened 2026

The New York Dominican counter, now on North Second Street.

El Sazon R.D. moved down from New York and opened in Northern Liberties in January 2026, bringing the empanadas that built its reputation there.

Breakfast sandwiches, empanada tacos, and a smashburger topped with fried cheese and peppers. It's a counter, not a dinner reservation.

I guess it’s the economy but the cheeseburger and empanadas were especially small. I would give them both a B taste-wise. The chimi taco was a good size but just not my type of flavor combo, I’m sure plenty of ppl will like it tho. I will try other items on the menu but what I did have already was underwhelming… Fast service.

The smash burger with Dominican fried cheese is a flavor bomb! It’s a messy one, though—pretty greasy and the sandwich likes to slide apart, so hold on tight. Keep in mind there isn't much seating; we grabbed one of the small benches out side. Good spot if you're looking for something unique and tasty.

I cannot stress enough how DELICIOUS this place was from the smash burger to the fresh juice. The store front was a little hard to find but one we got into the parking lot our nose took us there ! The space is a little small but it’s pick up only so it’s fine. My favorite was the smash burger and the loaded fries were delicious. My boyfriends favorite hands down were the empanadas. 10/10 will recommend. Will be back & I know for a fact this is going to be the summer night spot so please go ahead and head out there now before the line is down the block and around the corner !!

Wow… I wasn’t expecting it to hit like that! The tacos were ammaaazziing. If you are in the area it's a must. I am shocked the lines were not out the door. It’s this super chill burger and taco fusion spot with Dominican flavor all through it and you can taste it in the food. Who would of thought queso frito on a burger. Also, who would of thought of a deep frying the empanada dough, opening it up and turning it into a taco. I'm done 😮‍💨😑🤤 The Dominicam Smash Burger? Amazing. The chimi taco? On point. The chicken and beef? All three fire. It’s the kind of place you go when you want something comforting but still packed with flavor. Overall, great spot for a deep fried taco feel. Definitely somewhere I’d recommend if you’re craving burgers, tacos, and that Dominican touch done right. 10/10 would recommend. Also, I ended up going back to order the smash burger that same night. *** The only issue I see is proper ventilation.
