Fairmount sushi BYOB with crab towers alongside the nigiri

Javelin arrived on Fairmount Avenue in April 2025 with sushi, sashimi and maki, plus a stack of things that never make it onto a purist's menu: crab and avocado towers, tuna tacos, rock shrimp, gyoza.

It opened as a BYOB while the drinks program was being built, so bring a bottle of something cold and check before you go in case the bar has since landed.

Came for happy hour on a Friday 3-5pm Good food esp their sushi rolls (shrimp tempura) also had the berry lemon drip, rock shrimp with a side rice Also added their happy hr menu.

I live a few blocks away and have been 10+ times for both takeout and dine-in. This place has very good to excellent sushi! Legit some of the best in the city. The fish is always fresh, very large pieces, and a creative variety for the chefs specials. I can’t recommend this place enough!

Overall this is an okay lunch spot for a quick meal if you have a craving and can’t leave the neighborhood. The lunch sashimi platter came with a standard and expected variation. The flavors were a little muted and the most spongy texture was the tuna, but nothing unordinary from previously frozen and stored fish. My roommate got two vegetarian rolls and a tuna roll from the lunch combo and said they were forgettable but not bad.

Been here twice already (one time last week and today) and the quality/service is unbeatable!! I promise you, every bite you take…it’s going to be so fresh. One dish that was a letdown was the miso soup. I wish it had more flavor. Overall, everything was really good and we can’t wait to come back again!
