Stella's Ice Cream

★ 4.8 · 21 reviews Philadelphia Opened July 2026

The Midwest scoop shop's first East Coast store

Stella's opened on North Front Street in July 2026, its first location on the East Coast after building a following in the Midwest.

Cake batter, salted caramel and rocky road are the scoops people ask for. There are also brownies, cookie sundaes and ice cream sandwiches, the better order on a hot Fishtown summer evening.

Best place in the area for a large amount of ice cream for a good price. The young girl behind the counter was also super helpful and friendly. Beware though - mint chocolate chip is my favorite flavor, but even I thought it tasted like toothpaste. The almonds also tasted stale, as a topping and the rocky road ice cream. The other flavors I tried were good though.

Great ice cream and great service! The staff member was beyond kind and went through all the details and flavors with us. Was very impressed by the fact that everything was made in house and all the fun flavors and cone options there were. Will definitely be back and I highly suggest!

I’ll be the first to admit that when I heard another ice cream shop was opening in the neighborhood, I was a little skeptical. We already have so many others options, so I wasn’t sure we really needed another one. But after trying Stella’s tonight, I’m so happy we did. 10/10 no notes. The biggest highlight for me was the dairy-free selection. Most places have one, maybe two options if you’re lucky, so having so many flavors to choose from was such a treat. We both ended up sharing the dairy-free ice cream, so I can’t speak to the regular flavors, but the strawberry and chocolate were honestly some of the best ice cream I’ve had in a long, long time. You’d never guess they were dairy-free. Also, scoops are MASSIVE. The house-made waffle bowl was delicious, the shop was bright, clean, and inviting, and the girls working there were so nice. I also loved seeing Hank’s Root Beer and Orange Soda, such a childhood throwback. It’s always exciting to see a small business open its doors, and it’s even better when they absolutely nail it from day one. Stella’s feels like such a great addition to the neighborhood. If you’re nearby, I’d definitely recommend stopping here before heading to Jeni’s or Van Leeuwen. We’ll definitely be back!

Tried this for the first time last week. It was fantastic. I got the cookies and cream in a cup. They had a fruity pebbles cone I will be trying next time. Place was clean and staff was friendly. Some outside seating as well as indoor!
