The South Park boutique's biggest store yet, on Girard Avenue

Thread + Seed's La Jolla shop is the brand's most ambitious yet: a full women's clothing floor, home goods, gifts, and in-store styling appointments if you want a second opinion.

It grew out of a small South Park shop that later moved to Bankers Hill around 2017, selling a modern-boheme mix of denim and everyday essentials. The Girard Avenue store opened on Small Business Saturday in late 2024, and by 2026 it was throwing an expansion party with a runway show next door.

Good to know

Open daily 10am to 8pm, later than most of Girard Avenue.
The clothing skews modern-boheme: flattering denim, easy dresses, plus a solid gift wall.

I stumbled into this shop this afternoon, and it couldn't have been a better experience. I was looking for timeless, elevated pieces, and the selection was exactly what I had hoped for. Ashley was incredibly helpful and made the entire shopping experience so much fun. I already can't wait to come back the next time I'm in town!

We really enjoyed our experience at Thread & Seed this morning. We loved the selection and the color palette throughout the store and we were especially impressed with the customer service. Unfortunately, we forgot the young lady’s name but we mainly wanted to share this with the shop owner to let you know that she was amazing. She was a true professional, never pushy and was simply there to help my girl find a few items she loved. She made the whole experience feel easy and enjoyable. It’s a shame this chain only exists in the San Diego area right now but hopefully one day you’ll make your way up to LA and Santa Monica too… Montana Avenue, perhaps? :) We love supporting local businesses, especially ones with such creative, classy and trendy design taste. Super, super happy with our purchases and the overall experience, easy 5/5!

Thread + Seed is an adorable clothing boutique right in the heart of La Jolla. The shop is beautifully curated with cute, comfy pieces you actually want to wear again and again. Their Build a Box concept is such a fun and thoughtful way to put together the perfect gift—unique, personal, and easy. Melanie, the owner, has assembled an incredible team of attentive, friendly staff who make shopping here a pleasure. Whether you’re treating yourself or finding a gift, this boutique is a must-visit.

My bestie and I just had THEE best experience in this store with Tori helping us! She was so, so helpful, had the best attitude, and even stayed open a little longer so we could finish shopping.
